The Tiny Teams Festival is a week-long sale on Steam presented by Yogscast, a gaming group who journeyed into publishing, and it includes some of the most beloved titles of the last few years. For this next week, though, they're offering wonderful sale on indie games. Where Steam once owned the market for indie games, now they've been relegated to being just another storefront for them. The notion that Steam is the only place for indie games has shifted over the last few years as platforms like Itch.io and the Epic Games Store have grown bigger, offering more lucrative profit splits between developers and the platform.

Small dev teams like Eric Barone, the solo developer who made Stardew Valley, release their games to Steam first or use Steam Greenlight as a testing ground before full release. Steam has hosted countless classic indie games like Braid and Super Meat Boy on PC and continues to be a platform for small dev teams to reach a large audience. Steam has over 30,000 video games on its service, and a huge chunk of them are indie games. More indie games are added every year, with more than a thousand being added every two months since 2017. All kinds of indie games are on sale this week thanks to the Tiny Teams Festival on Steam.
